The Mark of Integrity

At the heart of a De Beers Forevermark diamond lies an enduring commitment to integrity. Our unique inscription is an assurance that it has met De Beers Forevermark’s standards of beauty, rarity and that it has been responsibly sourced.

From the moment a De Beers Forevermark inscribed diamond is unearthed, it is tracked and monitored at each stage of its journey to ensure conflict-free diamonds that are untreated and natural.

Integrity in our business is as important as the integrity of our diamonds. As part of our CSR (corporate social responsibility), we ensure that all employees and communities from diamond producing areas benefit from legal, safe and responsible business practices.

Conflict-free Diamonds

A De Beers Forevermark diamond is a conflict-free diamond, handcrafted with care. It is essential to us that your lifelong symbol of love is selected with the utmost respect for the natural world and the people it touches along its journey.

Each De Beers Forevermark diamond source must comply with the Kimberley Process, an international monitoring system co-founded by the De Beers Group with the aim of eradicating the trade in conflict diamonds.

Ethical sourcing is at the heart of a De Beers Forevermark diamond. We examine the human rights standards, political climate and socio-economic profile of every community which might be a source of De Beers Forevermark diamonds.

Natural and Untreated

Only diamonds verified as natural and untreated can acquire the De Beers Forevermark inscription.

To earn the confidence of its owner, a De Beers Forevermark inscribed diamond undergoes rigorous testing. At the De Beers Group Institute of Diamonds, highly experienced diamond graders are tasked with detecting if a diamond has been synthetically treated to enhance its appearance. They are helped by technology developed over many years by the De Beers Group, including state-of-the-art instruments such as DiamondSure™, DiamondView™, and DiamondPlus™, which detect when a diamond has been synthesized under high pressure or by Chemical Vapour Deposition. They also detect any clarity or colour enhancements, including laser drilling, fracture filling and colour coating.

De Beers Group Institute of Diamonds

De Beers Forevermark diamonds are tested, authenticated and inscribed at the De Beers Group Institute of Diamonds, which has set its own high standards in the accuracy and consistency of diamond grading. Our expert team uses meticulous, standardised processes, bespoke software and proprietary grading instruments to create an accurate and consistent profile of each diamond. To add precision, accuracy and consistency, they also use a system of sub-grades for colour and clarity to result in the selection of stunning, natural diamonds.

Each diamond must pass these tests at least five times before it will finally be inscribed with the De Beers Forevermark icon and its own unique identification number.

The De Beers Forevermark Integrity Requirements

The beauty of a De Beers Forevermark diamond is made deeper in the knowledge that it has been sourced with responsibility across the entire supply chain. The De Beers Forevermark Integrity Requirements set out the principles our partners who help realise a De Beers Forevermark diamond must meet: from the experts who cut and polish De Beers Forevermark diamonds (known as Authorised De Beers Forevermark Diamantaires); to the Authorised De Beers Forevermark Manufacturers who feature De Beers Forevermark diamonds in De Beers Forevermark jewellery; and the Authorised De Beers Forevermark Jewellers who present De Beers Forevermark jewellery to you.

Our uncompromising standards mean all of our partners must maintain a good and honest business reputation, never misrepresent synthetic, treated, or simulated stones as natural diamonds, and never subject De Beers Forevermark diamonds to any form of enhancement or artificial treatment. We use Société Générale de Surveillance, an ethical supply chain specialist and the largest independent third party auditor in the world, to verify that De Beers Forevermark Diamantaires meet our demands.

Authorised De Beers Forevermark Diamantaires

A De Beers Forevermark diamond can be cut and polished only by Authorised De Beers Forevermark Diamantaires. The beauty and integrity of a De Beers Forevermark diamond is furthered by its support of local sorting, cutting and polishing industries. The De Beers Group encourages the sale of a proportion of its diamonds to local customers for manufacturing in countries where diamonds are sourced. This keeps the value of those diamonds in the country, and encourages the creation of thriving local communities.
